First person books doesn't always appeal to me but once in a while, one of them will pull me in anyway.In this book, the main character's trouble resonates so much to the working side of me as I see her struggle as I do to pay the bill, keep her job and keep the enemy at bay. She's spunky yet has a vulnerability that I can understand. She is the kind of girl I want to be at my back in good and bad times.
I love the tension between the hero and heroine and their chemistry. The fact that the hero's action speaks louder of his affection than his words is one of the things I love about this book. Middle to three/fourth of the book is a bit slow for me but when it picked up, it was a blast. Full of internal conflicts and outward as well, especially the heroine as she has demons to slay both inside herself and outside.
The world is not exactly unique but has its own character that sets it appart from other paranormal stories that I have read. As this book involves angels, God is definitely discussed in the story. However, it was not the center of the plot, the discussion is NOT a chapter in length, and was not discussed in a way to sway religion. I like that. I like that the bad guy was cleverly intwined with the characters and I can honestly say I was as surprised at its unveiling. I like authors like this who surprises me not just with the story but with the twists as well.
I like the story arc and - given the chance - would definitely look for other books from this author. This could have been an easy five star for me, however, there is part of the story that did not set well with me - personally. Other than that, this book is worth reading to any romance reader.

Intriguing, to say the least. I felt as if I were walking along in Sarah's footsteps; entranced to read on until all the pieces of the puzzle were in place. And then I was left at the end longing for more.
Spell bounding story, page turner from the beginning. I didn't expect the ending but I'm left wanting to read more. I can't wait for the sequel.
It took me a few chapters to get into the story, but once there I read it straight through in one day, couldn't put it down. I liked that I was not able to predict what would happen at the end of the story; but I was very satisfied with the ending. The ending set the stage for a sequel which I look forward to reading.
