When cowboy Gage Wellton visits boyhood friend, Corey Cassidy, for a fun-filled weekend in New York City, Corey's life is turned upside down. The two have the time of their lives in the big city. As memories of their childhoods unfold, dancing, drinking, and a night of heavy sex ensue.
Gage soon finds himself smitten, which he didn't expect. It's too late for romance though, since Gage has to head back to his ranch, ending the weekend of fun and good memories. Corey asks him to stay, but Gage has obligations in Kansas and decides to return home, leaving Corey and the city behind.
Once back home, Gage struggles without Corey at his side. Then a rodeo accident sends Gage to the hospital and Corey shows up to visit. Corey becomes medicine for Gage. During his visit, the two become intimate again. But it's hard for a closeted, gay cowboy to survive in a straight man's world. Will love be enough to make one man change his entire life for another?

After connecting with an old friend online, cowboy Gage Wellton goes to New York City to visit him. Corey Cassidy now owns The Warehouse, a gay bar and club. Gage is thrilled to reconnect with Corey, and the sex is fabulous, but he's not ready for anything more. When Corey says he loves Gage, Gage doesn't know how to handle it. Will Gage and Corey ever be able to build something real, or will he continue to be just a weekender? The Weekender is a hot tale of opposites attracting. I liked the country mouse / city mouse dichotomy. Unfortunately, The Weekender never really captured me. Gage is on the wishy-washy side. While I understood his reluctance to come out, and to uproot his life, I grew annoyed with him a few times. I also thought Corey fell for Gage way too quickly, and without reasons that I could see. Perhaps their previous relationship could partially explain that, but not to my satisfaction. I liked the realistic conflicts and emotional moments. The ending was sweet as well. The Weekender might not have been my cup of tea, but readers who like cowboys and drama will no doubt find it enjoyable.
